Symbiotic cycles

The diagram shows the various aspects of my AR and how they are likely to move along - solid lines are actions that have already been taken - dashed lines are possible future actions:

It just remains to be seen how much action in one area influences outcomes or actions in others...

Just a reminder of where I'm aiming ...

HONOURS CLASSIFICATION

To determine an honours classification, a credit weighted arithmetic mean of the results of all Level 3 and the best 50% of Level 2 credits shall be calculated. In determining Honours classification Awards Boards/Professional Awards Boards shall initially apply the following to the un-rounded result of the calculation:

Students with an average mark that is within a borderline band of two percentage points below a class boundary will be upgraded to the higher classification provided at least 75% of their Level 3 credits fall within the higher band or above.

Half Moon

Saw the moon tonight as I drove the car towards the back of the children's hospital to collect J:

It's been a long draining day and I'm ready for bed. At least the social story worked well - we just weren't prepared for the amount of pain he had ... two of his upper teeth came out with some bone attached - poor lad - he's so difficult to comfort ...

Methodology

Having produced my A4 sheet with a brief outline of my plan and then justified it to my LF I now have to produce a research proposal of 1500 words. We have been given two sample proposals - one has nearly 2000 words and the other nearly 2500 words. We have been told that these were samples of the 'very good' criteria - so ... we need to use less words but aim to achieve an 'excellent' - no mean task.

We also need to include in our proposal reasons for the choice of methodology - but we have to use action research. It's really hard to argue for and justify using a particular methodology when we have no choice ... but I don't thnik saying "I chose action research as it was a prerequisite of the course" will hold water.

So ... I need to dig down deep into the subsets of AR methodology to justify the particular route that i am taking ... not forgetting the word count, of course.

Technology

Just had an email from my mother:

"We are somewhere in the Pacific Ocean"

Wonders of technology that she can send this from her cruise ship!

Burglar Distraction

I travelled all the way to Wakefield with a police van behind me. It had, on the front of it, lettering that proclaimed it was the "Burglar Distraction Unit". I had visions of a policeman, dressed as a clown, running in behind the burglar as he climbed up his ladder and distracting him from the task in hand!

Silver lining?

re the Cubs incident and the problems re secondary school

David and I talked this over and have, by means of dialogue about this subject, come to the conclusion that, should J still feel unsure about going to Scouts, then we can view this as an opportunity to educate those in Scouts (who will also be in the years above him at school) about autism and its problems etc. Ideally this would be done before J goes up to Scouts so that the children are aware of his differences. This may also mean that those in Scouts are more likely to look out for him at the senior school.
